Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced the development of 'PlayStation Flow' (PS Flow), the latest breakthrough in wearable technology that takes the PlayStation 4 (PS4) system to the next level of immersion by combining gaming with fully submergible sensory technology.

Developed by the team at PlayStation Wearable Entertainment Technology (PWET), PS Flow combines PS4 gaming with real life swimming allowing gamers to literally dive into the action. The latest exclusive innovation brings players a more immersive and realistic gaming experience when playing underwater elements of PS4 games.

PS Flow features LCD head-mounted display goggles that work seamlessly with four individual sensors worn on the arms and legs to deliver a unique underwater experience. Waterproof earphones built into the goggles create a highly realistic audio environment while submerged. PS Flow will allow gamers to participate in any underwater game elements from the water, allowing them to continue gameplay swimming in the real world.

PS Flow will also be available with an accompanying drying system for ultimate gamer satisfaction and ease. PlayStation Flow Body Dryer is quicker than using a towel or any hand dryer, a true revolution in drying technology,

PS Flow tracks players' actions both on the surface of the water and beneath. Using Remote Play technology it acts as a relay between their body movements in the pool and their PS4 at home:

  • The LCD head-mounted goggles download game data from the PS4 through Bluetooth technology. Once players activate the head mounted goggles poolside game play will be displayed

  • The sensors attach comfortably to the players thighs and biceps and read electro-magnetic pulses and send real-time game updates back to their PS4

  • To dry players in the quickest time possible, the PlayStation Flow Body Dryer uses ionizing technology to dry within seconds, accelerating air away from your body so that it evaporates in the fastest time possible

Ariel Inganarre, Chief Innovation Officer at PlayStation Wearable Entertainment Technology Group, adds that: "Here at the Wearables division, we are working on ways to bring the great PlayStation gaming experience to all areas of gamers lives. Building on the recent success of Remote Play and Share Play, and not to mention Project Morpheus, we really believe we're about to take gaming to a deeper level!"

Throw yourself into the deep end and dive in to an entirely new world of play with PlayStation(R)Flow, the ultimate accessory for PS4.
